Port Barcares

Port Barcares is a very lively resort which benefits from exceptional assets: a wide 8 km fine sandy beach, a fishing port and marina (Port Saint-Ange), green areas, 67 ha of pine forests, 10km of cycle paths, a marine lake of 8000 hectares classed "Natura 2000", but where you will find the "stade de glisse de Catalogne" (cable skiing, wake boarding, kite surfing, diving, catamaran, sailing, windsurfing, funboard, jet skiing, etc.), all the entertainment and services of a major resort (casino, cinemas and night-clubs, seasonal shows, thalassotherapy centre, etc).

The slogan of the resort is "the open sea in the heart of nature".
The area of Grande Plage (8km, Blue Flag) is one in which the main entertainment of the resort is located; Port Barcarès benefits from the "Station kid" certification (beach clubs , circus school, "Barcamômes" days).
You can go on some marvellous walks nearby, visit the Cathar châteaux , discover Collioure or the old village of Gruissan, the cellars of Fitou or even discover the mountains of Cerdagne on board the Train Jaune that you will take to Villefranche de Conflent.

Because Port Barcarès is not a seaside resort, here are some suggestions for visits you can freely do to discover the extreme richness of the cultural heritage of this region:

- The Villages of the Vermilion Coast

A9 MOTORWAY (La Catalane) Leucate exit (No. 40), follow D 627 Port Leucate exit "les salins / Parc de loisirs".
Then follow the "Pinède des loisirs / Parc Aquatique / Casino" sign (Rue Salvador Dali)
Follow the "Le Barcarès" sign at the end of Rue Salvador Dali and take the D 90 (avenue du Roussillon).
Continue on the D 90 (enter Barcarès)
At the roundabout follow the "Narbonne Perpignan" (Rue des Marines) sign
Follow the "Le Grand Bleu" sign and turn left on Rue du Vallespir
Arrive at the complex.

Via the south:
D 83 exit 14 "grande plage nord"
At the roundabout follow the "le Grand Bleu" (rue de Cerdagne) sign
Arrive at the complex.

By train:
S.N.C.F. train station in Leucate (18km) and Perpignan (22km). Regular coach between SNCF Perpignan train station and Barcarès all year round.

By aeroplane:
Perpignan/Rivesaltes AIRPORT 18km away; Airport shuttle between the airport and the SNCF Perpignan station all year round
